Easy Pot Loaf

Nothing is better than homemade bread and this is the best of them all! It's also surprisingly easy! This recipe is by my favourite chef of all time - Alex Hollywood!

You Will Need:

400g Strong White Flour

1 Teaspoon Table Salt

1 Teaspoon Yeast

350ml Warm Water

Ovenproof Casserole Pot

Method:

1. Measure out the flour into a bowl and stir in the salt.

2. In a jug measure out the water and stir in the yeast until dissolved.

3. Pour the yeast mixture into the flour and stir to form a sticky dough.

4. Cover with clingfilm and leave to prove for 2 hours.

5. On a floured surface, tip out the dough and sprinkle liberally with flour.

6. Shape the dough by folding it over itself several times, adding flour as you need.

7. Shape into a ball and again sprinkle with flour.

8. Leave for 20 / 30 more minutes to prove.

8. Whilst the dough proves, preheat the oven to 220 degrees celsius (fan) and put your pot into heat with the oven.

9. Remove the pot from the oven and sprinkle the base with flour, then tip in your dough and swirl the pot using oven gloves to settle the dough.

10. Bake with the lid on for 30 minutes.

11. Remove the lid and cook for a further 10 / 15 minutes until golden brown with a hard crust.

12. Remove from the pot and cool slightly, serve warm with LOTS of salted butter!

This bread is best served fresh on the day that you make it, but makes great toast the next day!
