Places to Eat in Cornwall

Growing up we used to go down to Cornwall every single year without fail, these days we tend to go a little less often but I still love it just as much! When the sun is shining in Cornwall (like it has done this week!) it's easy to see why its a favourite British holiday destination of so many people, it has got everything you need - plenty of beaches, quaint shops and not forgetting amazing food!

In this post I've put together some of my favourite places to eat; most of these recommendations are a short distance away from the town of Hayle - where my Grandparents house is (and where we stay!). For context, Hayle is around a 15 minute train ride away from the popular bustling town of St Ives (which most people will have heard of!)

I hope you find this post helpful in giving you some new foodie spots to try when you are next in Cornwall!

1. Lula Shack - N Quay, Hayle, TR27 4DD

The Lula Shack is our most recent Cornwall find and is definitely a place which we will be returning to in a hurry! With beautiful views over Hayle harbour and a great extensive menu of fresh sunshine food this is a place you must try. Originally we just went for a quick morning coffee but after looking at the menu we stayed all the way until lunch time and even came back for breakfast in the morning - that's how good it is!

The staff are lovely and the atmosphere makes you feel completely relaxed and on holiday - you can just sit back, relax, take in the great views and eat seafood - what could be better?!

I've put the menu below so you can see for yourself how good it is - it's not often I think I could eat anything off a menu but Lula's is certainly the exception - everything just looks divine.

Zoom in to see for yourself!

2. The Seafood Cafe - 45 Fore Street, Saint Ives, TR26 1HE

The Seafood Cafe has been a long time favourite of ours and we visit every time we come to Cornwall! It has a small but high quality menu of fresh seafood and fish and it really makes the most of local produce. I will say, It's not the cheapest place (though nowhere in St Ives is!) but the quality of the food is top notch and it has a lovely atmosphere about it. If you want to visit you will need to book well in advance as it gets very full during the summer months when tourism is at its most busy point.

On a complete side note, if you fancy some shopping whilst in St Ives (particularly for good homeware) Magpie and London on St Andrews Street is excellent and has many beautiful handmade pieces to take home with you.

3. Philps Bakery - 1 E Quay, Hayle, TR27 4BJ

Obviously a good Cornish pasty is an absolute must of any holiday to Cornwall and Philps does it the best!

You will find Philps bakeries across Cornwall and they are great for a filling lunch on the go. They also now ship across the country so you can also order some to your home if you find yourself in need of a good pasty when you're not so close to the sea!

Philps opens early in the morning and shuts at 8:30pm meaning its a great option to buy a pasty on the go and bring it with you on a day out etc.

4. Best Beach Barbecue Location - Marazion Beach, Mounts Bay

With unobstructed views of St. Michael’s Mount, plenty of car parking and amazing sun sets, Marazion beach is widely considered to be one of the best places for a barbecue in Cornwall and I couldn't agree more!

We like to buy plenty of fish and head down in the evening to barbecue as the sun goes down - it is just magical - if I could pick only one recommendation from this post for you to try this would be it!

The only thing I would say is make sure to bring a bin bag or two to take your rubbish home as there are no bins available because of the seagulls!

I hope this has given you some new places to try next time your on holiday!
