Christmas can be such an expensive time of year, but sometimes I find the most thoughtful gifts are homemade. These little shortbread stars always go down a treat and are very quick and easy to make!
You will need: (makes around 15 - I put 5 in each bag so that's 3 gifts!)
125g softened butter
55g golden caster sugar
180g Plain flour
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
80g dark chocolate
Method:
Preheat your oven to 180oc.
In a bowl, beat together your butter, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy.
whisk in the flour until a dough forms, then form into a ball with your hands and refrigerate for 10 mins.
Roll out your dough and cut out your biscuits into any Christmassy shape!
Place on a lined baking tray and bake for 15 - 20 minutes or until golden.
Whilst the biscuits cool, break up your chocolate and melt in the microwave
Either pour into a piping bag or use a spoon to flick the melted chocolate over the biscuits.
leave to set and then package up into gift bags - I used these snowman ones from Lakeland.
Enjoy!
